Change log:

Improved AA in the depots and airfields. After many tests we have impression that devs have changed AA some time ago and now it’s not as effective as before. I’m going to report bug about AA because spawned AA (used in TAW) behaves different that normal AA.
New durability for buildings and vehicles provided by developers. But after tests we think there are bugs because you can still destroy hangar with 50kg bomb. I’m going to report this as well.
To reduce number of “suicidal” sorties there are 3 lives for each map (there are 8 maps in total during the campaign). If pilot dies, captured or disco his live counter is reduced by:
1 when he is in bigger team
X when he is in smaller team where X = #smaller_team/#bigger_team. Example: Axis players: 28, Allied players: 20 so X for Allied is 20/28 = 0.71.
Every time “Lives on map” counter (shown in pilots hangar) <= 0 then pilot has 24 hours time penalty. After this penalty counter is increased by 1 so he may fly again.

Improved “balancer” algorithm. Number of pilots on one side depends on number of pilots on the other side. In general the ratio shouldn’t be bigger than 40%. Example: one team has 20 players so the other may have 20*140% = 28.  For small number of players (below 10) the limit for other side is about 10.  Max number of players for each side is 45 as before.
Queue system: after spawning on the airfield pilot is moved to:
Active list if there are free slots for that side (no over limit message). Pilot is clear to take off.
Waiting queue if there aren’t any free slots (over limit message). Pilot is not clear to take off and have to wait. He gets his position in the queue on the chat and must return to the briefing. As soon as there is free slot on that side pilot is automatically moved to the Active list and he is clear to take off (message on the chat). You can check your actual position in the queue by spawning on the airfield again.
 
If Active list is full and there are waiting pilots in the queue then pilots with sortie different than ‘Landed’ or ‘On the ground’ are moved to Waiting queue on the last position creating free slot for others in Active list. This should make faster rotation between Active and Waiting players.

Note: number of players on the web site includes all players on the server also spectators and waiting pilots.

There is also additional queue for donators who have donated TAW server. This queue has bigger priority over Waiting queue so donator will wait much shorter to be clear to take off is team is full. Thank you for all donates! Without them there would be no TAW at all.

There is also additional queue for admins with highest priority.

Axis may capture max 2 cities by paratroopers per map.
If your aircraft is damaged more than 30% then after landing it’s not available in the current and next mission.
If server is full and there is big difference between players spectators or waiting pilots on the last position is kicked to enable joining pilot from the smaller team.
New front-line algorithm with about 2km error. The previous one in some cases could have even 20km error.
Bailing out or crashing near enemy depot or airfield equals captured sortie. On the other hand the further you bailout/crash from the enemy positions the lower is probability of being captured.

Improved clouds. Lower base level during overcast, slightly more two layers clouds (work in progress)

No there are 8 maps in a campaign and each map has multiple missions.

 

Lose 3 lives and you have to wait 24 hours to get one back.

 

30% damage to your aircraft and you now lose it for 2 missions.

 

Ground attack is now pretty much a no go for me.

Moostafa,

I have been following the TAW forum thread and it appears you are not alone with your concern.  In the 20+ posts since the changelog was posted there are more than 10 about the exploitation of ground attack going to lose players making movement of the maps irrelevant in participation.  Meaning no one will run ground attack because of the easy losses of aircraft during high traffic days.  They won't fly GA anymore.  

 

Also with the concern of Vultching an airfield and killing entire sides on the field because the AI is inadequate. 

Unfortunately it's the games we are stuck with but it may be the changes that kill TAW in lieu of Combat Box.

Talking with Beazil,

He feels we should find another server to be active on with all the changes being made by TAW.  I'm not sure how many of us feel this way.  After reading the change log and looking at the community size I'm not so sure I disagree with him. some of the processes that worry us are as follows.

penalty for death = Waiting a penalty phase to respawn while the person who killed you can reset and await your return.

penalty for being on a large group (spawn limits or balance algorithm) = squad could be split waiting to spawn because of lack of Enemy on the server. 25 friendly on the server and 20 enemy by their example means only 3 JG51 members would be allowed to fly until more Allied players joined.

As with Moostafa the 3 lives rule = a penalty for a death in flight whether stupid or meaningful.  We're already penalized for the loss of life with time out phase as well as aircraft lost phase.

Please feel free to add any complaints or concerns on this subject in this thread.

Hey I can post!  Yay!

Not a fan.  At all.  Losing sucks.  Getting shot down sucks.  Having planes to lose is ok.  Being further "punished" by not being able to play because I got shot down by someone REALLY sucks.  What is my opponent to do while I wait?  Fly on an empty server?  Should I spend my 24 hour wait period considering my folly for being bested by another player?  Really?

People are going to line up to do this?  Not this guy.  I'll fly with the squad because I love flying with you guys on any server, but I think this direction is too punative for my enjoyment.  It's actually rediculous.

so i logged on Sunday, ran 6 sorties all ground attack killed or captured 2 times and i'm out.

I'm just as happy to fly combat box or Knights, if i wanted to be penalized this much I would have joined the air force where you only have one life to give.

the ground ai in crazy was shot up at 1 km from target while hugging the trees on my way out.

I did some math with the help of the TAW stats pages.  The top 5 fighters all have more than 20 hours in the game since the server started on Sunday.  That was 89 hours ago.  The time played by those players equates to more than 7 hours a day in flight on the server.  One player had what equated to more than 8 hours per day on the server.  These are professional gamer times being mustered up here.  They are playing what is damn near a full time job.  And TAW wants to punish us for having a life outside the game.  For those of you with acess to their forums I ask you go read my last post on page 338 and you'll see the frustration that is seen by everyone that posts about problems.  It's a good read.

I have been flying on the TAW server with OGG and Djuroslav for the last two weeks and even with the new ruleset I really have not noticed any difference other than I am not flying any ground attack missions. The main reason why is that we are usually outnumbered and it would be to dangerous for little gain. It has been a lot of fun with some really whit knuckle moments. I would really like to see use try flying on this server on a Friday.

If you bail out of an aircraft you also will not lose a life.  It's only when you die in the cockpit or are killed in your chute.

Last map I had 1 death early with 4 ditched or crashed and 2 bail outs the rest of the map and was still at 3 lives near the end of the map.

CAP engage and run if you get any damage and you'll be fine.
